Border Insurance Agreement (OC graniczne) ≠ Green Card

Border Insurance Agreement (OC graniczne) — is a motor third-party liability insurance policy issued upon entry into the EU for vehicles registered in countries outside the European Economic Area, if you do not have a valid Green Card. The policy is valid for a limited period and only in the countries specified in the policy.

Green Card — is an international motor liability insurance policy arranged in the country where the vehicle is registered before departure and used in countries participating in the Green Card System.

How long does the issuance process take?+
Usually 10–20 minutes, provided all required information is available. However, we generally recommend arranging the policy one or two days before the required start date of coverage.
Can I pay by card?+
At this stage, only SWIFT, SEPA, P2P transfers, and BLIK payments are available. Once the policy is prepared, you complete the payment and receive the PDF policy.
Is this the same as a Green Card?+
No. These are different insurance products governed by different rules.
What type of insurance is this?+
This is compulsory motor third-party liability insurance valid within Poland and the European Union.
What does the insurance cover?+
Coverage includes: • Bodily injury or death of third parties; • Property damage caused to third parties. Minimum guaranteed sums: • PLN 29,876,400 — bodily injury claims; • PLN 6,021,600 — property damage claims.
What is not covered by the insurance?+
• Bicycles and non-mechanical vehicles; • Damage suffered by the vehicle owner; • Environmental damage.
In which cases may the insurer exercise a right of recourse?+
The insurer may recover paid compensation if the driver: • acted intentionally; • was under the influence of alcohol or drugs; • did not hold a valid driving licence; • fled the scene of the accident; • used a stolen vehicle.
When does the policy start and end?+
Start date: the date of policy issuance. Insurance period: 30–364 days. Termination: • expiry of the insurance period; • theft or disposal of the vehicle; • vehicle deregistration.
